As a regional referral centre, we provide specialized paediatric inpatient and outpatient services to children in Southwestern Ontario from birth through to age 18. Health care professionals, parents and families from all over the region count on the specialized expertise and care offered at Children’s Hospital. Merrymount is a family support service that provides assistance to children ages 0-12 years and their families through a range of programs including respite and crisis care, support and counselling groups and community outreach programs, designed to strengthen and support family life. Merrymount offers 8 different programs. The needs of each family are assessed and the programs work together to make sure families and children are supported.

Family and Child Support Program – Provides up to 23 hours of care a day to children in need of transition care.
Crisis Residential/Respite Program – Provides 24 hour a day care to children over a temporary period of family instability.
Parenting Groups – Provide education, support and the development of skills in personal well-being and parenting.
Children’s Groups – Promote skill development and coping strategies for issues children may encounter (like separation/divorce, family addictions, self-esteem and social issues).
Supervised Access – Assists families going through separation and divorce who are having difficulties over custody and access arrangements.
All Kids Belong – Promotes the inclusion of all children with special needs into licensed childcare settings.
EarlyON – Helps parents and caregivers enhance their parenting skills and improve their understanding of children’s developmental needs.

The MLHU is a key part of the local health system that works to identify and address public health issues. Public Health clinics include birth control, breastfeeding, dental, healthy start infant drop-ins, immunizations, needle exchange and sexually transmitted infections. Vanier offers a range of services for infants, children and youth (up to 14 years old) and their families. Our services are designed to offer support to families who have a child struggling with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health issues. Our services are offered in London and in various rural Middlesex communities (Strathroy, Parkhill, Glencoe, Dorchester and Lucan). Most of our services are supported through provincial funding and are offered at no cost to the family.
Individual treatment plans are co-created with families in a collaborative manner to meet their needs. We offer a spectrum of services that vary in intensity, location, and program goals. Help youth reach their potential through housing, education, skills training, employment supports and referrals they need to lead positive lives. Each year, YOU serves over 3,600 youth between 16 and 30 years of age in London and Strathroy. There is a wide range of services including health dental care, housing, education, workshops, job search, and on-the-job skills training. 

Transition Services – Focusing on housing, basic needs and support. Uses variety of tools from housing workers, youth in transition workers, focused groups and programs, primary health care, midwives, etc.
Career Services – Employment resource centre, counselling, job-matching, connection and placement incentive programs, skills training, General Education Development (GED) upgrading, certification workshops, etc.

Anova operates two 24-hour Emergency Shelters, a 25-unit Second Stage rent-geared-to-income apartment building for abused women and their children, a 24-hour Crisis and Support Line, Family Court Support, Community Outreach, Advocacy and Public Education, as well as Counselling and Support Services for people affected by abuse and sexual violence.

Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter primarily accommodates families (two parent and single parent families, both male and female led). There is accommodation for approximately twenty families. Single women who have no other shelter options may be registered for a shelter stay. Self or agency referrals are accepted. The length of stay varies from family to family. 24-hr emergency admission is provided for families and single women age 16 and over, who are homeless or in personal crisis and in need of temporary emergency accommodation. In some cases, we are able to work with clients to divert a shelter stay and provide support while a family works towards stability.

Our Housing Stability Workers provide counselling and supports for clients to create stability for their families in the communities where they are living. Our Housing Selection Worker helps families with their housing search specifically.

Emergency Support – Emergency shelter for women and children who are no longer feel safe in your home. This includes access to food, counselling, community advocates, housing support, employment support, and all other services.

Community Cupboard – Offers food and personal hygiene items. Available between Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.

I Want Support for my Kids – For children who witness domestic abuse using play therapy to explore feelings and process what they’ve seen and heard. We also work with moms and caregivers through individual and group counseling and therapy.

Healing – Supporting women during and after abusive relationships through multiple opportunities for healing through individual & group counselling, art therapy, gardening, and education.

The John Howard Society works with those involved in the criminal justice system. Services include individual, family and group counselling, children’s and teen groups, Indigenous services, women’s group, record suspension, bail program, and intake and crisis intervention. We also have social workers who attend high schools in the community. We advocate for our clients through a strength-based lens and provide empathy and just treatment for all.

The Child Witness Project (CWP) assists and supports young victims and witnesses of criminal offences. The support offered once charges are laid, and for the duration of the Criminal Court process, include the following: Court updates, liaising with the Crown attorney, community referrals, court preparation, and in-court support. Court preparation protocol includes education about the justice process and the role of a witness, stress reduction and coping strategies, court tours, and information about available testimonial aids. The introduction of the Facility Dog program has enabled the CWP to utilize professionally trained services dogs provided by National Services Dogs, an Assistance Dogs International accredited agency. The inclusion of the facility dogs can enhance feelings of calm and security, and better enable a child to feel comforted while going through the court process.

The program involves a team of specialized nurses, doctors and social workers who provide care for people of any age or gender identification who have been sexually assaulted and/or experienced domestic violence.  We serve the areas of London, Middlesex, Elgin, Perth and Oxford.
We provide many options for care.  Each individual can choose all, none or any combination of the following services offered within the program:

  • Emotional support/crisis intervention
  • Counseling (child and adult)
  • Physical examination
  • Testing, prevention, and/or treatment of sexually transmitted infections initially and in follow-up
  • HIV prevention medication
  • Testing and/or prevention of pregnancy due to sexual assault
  • Documentation/photographs of injuries
  • Forensic evidence collection (Forensic evidence can be stored anonymously for up to one year while you decided if you wish to involve police)
  • Safety planning
  • Referrals to community and other medical supports as needed.
